MIGROS NUTRITION SIGNALS

Today, time spent and in accordance with it, the importance given to a balanced diet and healthy life declines because of a fast moving life. It is not difficult for people to keep on a healthy life by combining adequate nutrition with proper physical activity but, for most people,  it is considered  as a tough aim to achieve.

We, as Migros Turk TAS. introduce “Nutrition Signals” in order to inform our consumers about healthy diet.

On some selected Migros labeled products, you can come across with “Nutrition Signals” which informs you about nutritional facts of the product in an apparent way. In addition to that, Migros aims to enrich its energy and nutrition facts label and make it easy for you to understand and compare with other products.

Label in Figure 14, is displayed on the front side of the product package. It shows how some of the nutrients in the product meet the daily requirements of your body.

In Figure 14, you can see the “Nutrition Signals” of Migros 1 lt. Milk. This “Nutrition Signal” shows the amount of some nutrients in 100 ml. of milk and how they meet the daily reference need.

When you look at the label, you should first realize the reference amount of the product, which these ingredient values are given for. This amount is usually stated as 100 ml for beverages and 100 g for foods.

Example: *100 ml. of Migros Milk contains 57,4 kcal energy and it meets %2,87 of the daily reference need.

In order to inform our consumers properly and avoid misinterpretations each nutrient on the label is shown in different colors. Nutrient-color relationship is kept standard in every “Nutrition Signals” of Migros products.

Daily reference values used in Migros “Nutrition Signals” are taken up references from FDA’s reference daily values on nutrition labeling which is based on a 2000 Calorie diet for adults and children more than 4 years of age. But you should keep in mind that, only your physician can evaluate the appropriate values for you.
